Who We Are

First Reformed Church is a community of people who have found purpose, hope, and joy in knowing Jesus Christ. We come from all ages and all walks of life to gather together for prayer, worship, instruction in the teachings of the Bible, and fellowship. We also work together to spread the good news of life in Jesus. We are part of a broader fellowship of churches called the Reformed Church in America (RCA), one of the earliest Christian denominations in America.

What We Believe

We embrace the historic Christian faith as expressed in the three historic creeds: the Apostles' Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed. Our faith finds further expression in the Reformed documents coming from the Protestant Reformation of the 16th century - the Belgic Confession, the Heidelberg Catechism, and the Canons of Dort. Learn more at the RCA website.

Our core beliefs center in the person of Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus is both fully human and very really the Son of God. We believe that He died to pay for the sins of all who trust in Him and that He rose again in victory over death. We believe that He is living and active in our world now through His Spirit, and that He will return soon to judge the world. We believe that all people everywhere are called to acknowledge Him.

We trust the Bible to be God's Word and it is our final authority for both what we believe and how we live.

Our Mission

Our mission as a church is to honor God by becoming and making fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

Our Vision

Our vision is to see many people in the Illiana area come to know Jesus personally through the members and ministry of First Reformed Church, to grow in their level of understanding and commitment as followers of Jesus, and then to join us in telling others about Jesus and using their lives to bless others out of their love for Jesus.
